Queensland pairing Cameron Henry and Claire Buccini are primed for a strong showing this weekend as they tackle the 2025 Accent Benchtops Rally Queensland, entering in the Queensland Rally Championship (QRC) section behind the wheel of their proven 2015 Subaru WRX.
Backed by Virtual Security Guard and Buccini Transport, the experienced duo are focused on delivering a competitive result on the fast, flowing roads around Gympie.
Henry, who returned to rallying in 2024 after a 15-month break to grow his successful solar surveillance business, completed a successful test session this morning in the Imbil State Forest. The WRX which was previously campaigned by Molly Taylor during the 2017–18 ARC seasons and Simon Evans in 2019, showed strong pace and reliability, giving the team plenty of confidence heading into the weekend.
“The test went really well,” said Henry. “The car feels great and the roads are some of the best in the country. It’s good to be back in the seat and even better to be sharing the car with someone as experienced as Claire.”
Co-driver Claire Buccini brings over 30 years of experience to the team, having started her rally journey in the early 1990s. She was part of one of Australia’s pioneering all-female teams alongside Michelle Gatton and has since built an impressive career across gravel and tarmac. Her accolades include Queensland and Victorian championship events, multiple runs at New Zealand’s Otago Rally, and titles in Targa and Australian Tarmac class championships.
“It’s fantastic to be back in Gympie,” said Buccini. “This event has such a great atmosphere and the QRC competition this year is fierce. Cameron’s driving is on point and we’re both really looking forward to the weekend.”
Henry and Buccini will compete in all three QRC heats across Saturday and Sunday, with 164 km of competitive stages awaiting the field.
