Day 1 of the Safari is underway, with the AUTO field rolling out for a proper outback workout. Three stages on the menu today, and the first one is a long one, so no easing into this caper.
In the shot, car 308 McNay / McNay heads out in the Holden Commodore Ute, with 309 Ross / Hague queued up behind in another Commodore Ute.
Plenty to watch across this year’s field too, with Herridge back in the Subaru, Brinkman back in the Can Am, Webster returning in the Pajero, and Toby Price making his first Sunraysia start in a car for Subaru. Dust, distance and dodgy comfort levels await 😅

Right now they’re sparkling on the grass under blue skies. In a very short time they’ll be covered in dust, chasing their way through four big days and around 1,200 competitive kilometres on the edge of Outback NSW.

Glenn Brinkman and Scott Beckwith’s Can-Am Maverick is getting the once-over before scrutineering this afternoon, with the team making sure everything is spot on before 1,200km of Sunraysia punishment begins.
After finishing runner-up last year, Brinkman is back and looking to go one better in 2026. In an event like this, the fast bit is only half the job. The prep matters just as much.
