Leading Victorian rally driver Brendan Reeves will return to the gravel later this month at the Yarra Valley Stages Rally.

After a successful run at last year’s Western Victoria Crane Truck Yarra Valley Stages rally, Leading Victorian rally driver Brendan Reeves will return to the event later this month. With co-driver Ben Searcy sitting in the co-drivers seat, the pair are likely to be at the pointy end of the field in a MK2 Ford Escort.

Last year the pair won the 2WD class in a Holden Commodore and their aim is to repeat the victory again this year, albeit in a different car. This time around Reeves will be behind the wheel of the appiontools.com Ford Escort Mk2, a car he is really looking forward to driving.

“Ben and I had a lot of fun last year and we are really excited to be competing in the rally again,” Reeves said. “The event uses some of the the stages traditionally used in the Rally of Melbourne and I really enjoy driving them. We’ll be using Pirelli tyres on the Escort and I’m really looking forward to seeing what challenges the event throws up. Last year we even had snow on some stages!”

Reeves has had success in a variety of cars over the years including both 4WD and 2WD cars here in Australia and overseas. In 2018, Reeves was competing in New Zealand in an AP4 Mazda 2, but suffered mechanical problems at both the Rally of South Canterbury and the Coromandel Rally.

Over the summer months, Reeves was part of the Hyundai N Performance team competing at the Whiteline Tarmac Rallysprint Series in Sydney’s West and will again be part of Hyundai’s line up for this season. See Video below.

But for Reeves, his background is gravel rallying and it will be great to see him back at the Western Victoria Crane Truck Yarra Valley Stages Rally. The event will be run on Sunday the 22nd of September and is round 6 of the Victorian Rally Championship. The event will be based out of the Yarra Glen Racecourse, about one hour from the Melbourne CBD.
